FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8: "Entering the Silence through Sound" for self knowledge and healing. In this Meditative Tone journey participants sit or lie in a comfortable position, after a short seated toning exercise. Participants remain still and in silence with relaxed breathing as Arji invites various tone instruments including Gong, voice, tibetan bowls, and gentle percussion to unfold an exquisite tone journey into lightness, luminosity and Cosmic meditation. We transition through a period of soft silence and grounding closure. Dress loosely & comfortably. Arji Cakouros will bring the luminous sound and toning technique to regular scheduled classes during weeks one and two of the health month incorporating this technique during Savasana. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10 In this workshop we will take an in-depth look at the archetypal energy we carry in our bodies. When we consider that emotion is energy in motion, we begin to understand that it is useful to lovingly play with our emotions and allow them the chance to be expressed in the body in ways that bring health and well being. With the chakra system as a guide, we will explore where we happily feel as well as where we either consciously or unconsciously deny our energies. In this workshop we will create a sacred space of "allowing" so that we can begin to invite the energies into light and into balance. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23 Experience the pure bliss of twists. They strengthen the spine, improved digestion, release tension and improve circulation and energy flow. In this workshop, you will move safely from gentle twists into deeper variations. The workshop will end with a guided, deeply-nourishing relaxation. Some yoga experience required. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24 Yoga Nidra, also known as ‘yogic sleep’ or ‘sleep with awareness’, is an ancient practice that is becoming more and more popular in today’s stress-filled world. Unlike Savasana at the end of a Hatha Yoga class, Yoga Nidra is a systematic 20- to 45- minute practice designed to induce a profound state of relaxation in the body, breath, and mind. At the same time, awareness remains alert, resulting in a deep meditative state of consciousness. The process of Yoga Nidra has the unique ability to unwind the nervous system, which is the foundation of the body’s well-being, and is known to benefit any number of stress-related illnesses, resolve insomnia, and enhance meditation practice. This one-hour class will begin with some gentle movements, followed by a 30-minute yoga nidra, and will conclude with a closing practice. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29 A great teacher was once reminded by a disciple of a famous saying: "In the beginning was the word." The teacher thought for a few moments, smiled and corrected his student. "In the beginning was sound, words are our interpretation of that universal phenomena." Sounds and rhythms channeled as the devotion to Bliss describes the artistry of musician and workshop facilitator Laraaji NadaBrahmananda. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30 Laughter has been said to be our best medicine and an important aspect of healing and relief from stress. This empowering, experiential, entertaining, and educational workshop involves scientific exercises to open you up to your spontaneous playful nature and your healing laughter, followed by deep meditative relaxation to gentle gong tones, and grounding dance movement. We will close with sharing and an om circle. Dress lightly and comfortably…and expect to have some great fun! In this class you will target the deeper tissues of the body, stressing the ligaments, joints and bones of the body. Yin yoga is meditative and is a nourishing way to release any blockages increasing the flow of chi bringing over all vitality to the body. |
